Getting started
In your hand, you hold the key to cyber security. A gateway to safer online communications and data exchange, an elegant solution born from a disruptive approach. We believe in keeping it simple, so we designed the setup to be as simple as the device.
Follow the steps below and start using this no change game changer.
1 Power on OFFPAD
Start by powering on your OFFPAD
2 Add the first fingerprint
The OFFPAD will prompt you to add the first fingerprint. Follow the instructions on the screen. When the process is complete the OFFPAD will automatically shutdown.
3 Connecting the OFFPAD
The OFFPAD supports 2 types of connections, Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) and Near Field Communication (NFC). You cannot use both types of connections at the same time and the connection type has implications of how you use your OFFPAD, you can read more about that in the Usage Guide.
If you want to connect the OFFPAD to your device using BLE it needs to be paired to your device. This is not a requirement if you only want to connect using NFC.
The steps for pairing an OFFPAD to your device is as follows:
- Make sure the OFFPAD is powered on
- Set the OFFPAD in pairing mode by pressing the on button until the text "Pairing Mode" is displayed on the screen
- Start the pairing process on your devices.
If your are pairing your OFFPAD to a Windows device you would typically start the pairing process from "Settings". Instructions on how to do this can be found here.
If you are running Windows 11 and you are unable to find the OFFPAD,
try setting the "Bluetooth devices discovery" setting to "Advanced".
You find this setting under Settings->Bluetooth & devices->Devices.
4 Setting up your OFFPAD as a Security Key
To start using your OFFPAD for authentication it needs to be registered as a Security Key. How to do this for Windows is explained in our Microsoft 365 Usage Guide.
For setting up the OFFPAD as a Security Key for other services and applications you need to followed the instructions provided by the service or application provider.
Take a look at the FIDO Alliance Passkey Directory for inspiration on where you can use your OFFPAD.
5 Add more fingerprints (optional)
If you want to add more fingerprints to your OFFPAD you need to install management software to do that.
The OFFPAD Device Manager gives you full access to all management features but requires admin access to run.
The OFFPAD Fingerprint Manager gives you access to the fingerprint management feature only and does not require admin rights to run.
